Week 10 has finally arrived!

For spelling this week we will be doing revision of words families, spelling rules (bossy e and plurals) and topic words (linked with HSIE content area of Australia) covered this term.

Also please don't forget home reading and reading logs are to be filled in each night.

Dear 3 Blue parents and carers,

Just a friendly reminder regarding home reading. In year 3 students should be reading at home for a minimum of 15 minutes a day. This reading is to be signed off by parents.

Home readers play an essential role in developing children's reading skills giving them a chance to consolidate classroom learning. 

Reading logs are to be brought in each Monday to be checked.

Ideas for home reading: 

- Read to a sibling

- Read to toys

- Read nonfiction online articles (using iPad or computer) e.g. kids.nationalgeographic.com

- Have your child record themselves reading and listen back to themselves. This is great for self assessment

- Fiction or non fiction

- Once a week be read to by a parent, grandparent or friend. This is important in order to improve their disposition towards reading.

Today 3 Blue began their first unit of multiplication since being in stage 2! We began by making concrete representations of multiplication as repeated addition. 

For example 

5 x 3 = 15

5 + 5 + 5 = 15

They have been enjoying the unit so far!

- Brainstorm as many -all words as you can think of. 

- Challenge how many -all words can you put into one sentence?

SPELLING RULE Magic e/ Bossy e/ Final e : An e at the end of a word makes the vowel before it say its name    e.g.  pin/pine

Dear parents and friends of 3 Blue, 

I just want to fill you in with some upcoming events over the next week. Next Wednesday morning(10th of June) Kinder, Year 3 and Year 5 will be celebrating their grade mass. This mass will be run by the students (prayers of the faithful, readings and offertory. All are welcomed!

Thursday (11th of June) we have school photos. Please ensure that your child is wearing their full WINTER uniform including ties/tab ties, polished school shoes, hair must be neat and girls hair tidy and tied back.  A note was sent home earlier this week detailing that all photo orders will be placed using the ONLINE services. These orders must be placed online by Monday 8th of June. 

I have also attached some photos of 3 Blue at work today.
